Welcome to the Gaskell Memorial Hall, Silverdale, Lancashire.

The Gaskell Hall was opened in 1931 and is named after Elizabeth Gaskell, the novelist who regularly stayed in the village.  The hall was originally designed with the local amateur dramatics society, the Silverdale Village Players in mind.  The Village Players continue to put on 2-3 productions a year including a Christmas Pantomime.

We have two main rooms that can be booked for a variety of activities. The Hall is used regularly by village and outside groups for many events and activities, including, yoga, pilates, coffee mornings, theatrical productions, line-dancing, country-dancing, badminton, W.I, private parties, weddings, lectures, concerts, public meetings etc.

Main Hall - This can be used for Coffee Mornings, Parties, Dances, Community Cinema, Play productions and any other private functions you may wish to hold, the wooden floor is perfect for dancing! The music system has Bluetooth, USB and Audio Jack connections and hand held microphones. There is also a ceiling wash lighting system to give special effects for your event.

The main hall is on the ground floor with ramp access and disabled toilet facilities.  Unfortunately, our wheel chair lift  is not functioning and is unlikely to be repaired in the near future, hence, it is not possible to access the Stage with a wheel chair.

The maximum capacity is dependent on the layout:-

A Kitchen (known as the Rigby Kitchen, named after an ex Manitenance Officer, John Rigby) is located adjacent to the Main Hall with Instanta (for steaming milk), kettles, microwave and fridge. See extras below for items such as plates and table cloths which can also be hired.

Both Gentlemen and Ladies toilet facilities are situated adjacent to the Main Hall.

Green Room - This can be used for conferences, meetings and smaller private functions. Seating for up to 40. Kitchen facilities include a fridge, microwave, kettle and oven. There are toilet facilities adjacent to the Green Room.

The Green Room is on the upper floor and accessed via external steps.

Unfortunately, our wheel chair lift between the two floors is not functioning and is unlikely to be repaired in the near future, hence, it is not possible to access the Green Room with a wheel chair.
